The city of Cullman is the county seat of Cullman County. Cullman is a thriving community in north Alabama, midway between Birmingham and Huntsville. The city’s population is approximately 18,000, while the total population of the county is approximately 89,000 (according to the U.S. Census estimates).

Housing Study
The Cullman Area Housing Needs Assessment combines an evaluation of housing and economic trends, market, socio-economic, and demographic data, with an analysis of housing, commercial, and neighborhood conditions, to forecast future housing needs. The Housing Needs Assessment was an expected outcome that was outlined in the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce’s five-year strategic plan, and it was completed on March 22, 2019 and updated in May of 2023. Cullman County is situated in North Alabama, approximately 45 miles south of Huntsville and 45 miles north of Birmingham. The vibrant community has a population of 18,635. The median income is $40,204, while the medium home value is $148,891. The community is also home to portions of Smith Lake, one of the country’s cleanest lakes and the deepest lake in the state of Alabama.
